Our Approach to Testing

Growth Psychological Services offers comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological testing for children, teens, and adults. Testing typically involves three steps: an initial interview to clarify the questions that should be the focus of testing, the testing itself, and a follow-up meeting to review the results of the testing and discuss recommendations.

We approach testing with two primary goals: to help build insight and to use that insight to shine light on a path forward. We take a collaborative approach and place an emphasis on understanding the needs and questions that each client has that made them seek testing. We pick the assessments we use based on these questions to ensure that we’re able to answer them as fully as possible and help you understand yourself or your child.

We aim to provide results in a way that helps to paint a clear picture of each client’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how these contribute to their strengths and the challenges they face. We work to make sure that these results can be easily understood by clients, parents, or other professionals. Our hope is for clients to walk away knowing themselves or their child better than before, and finding validation and self-compassion in doing so.

At Growth Psychological Services, we also believe that a crucial part of our role in these assessments is to provide clear and individualized recommendations based on the assessment results. We aim to provide guidance based on the insights gained from testing on the kinds of supports or interventions that will help clients to growth and thrive. These recommendations typically include suggestions for therapeutic supports, adjustments that can be made at home, school or work accommodations, and educational resources.
